kebabs al fresco

Some of decided to go on a wee camping trip to Ullapool so after driving across Scotland in the car we set about pitching our tents and doing some exploring. For tea we got a bit fed up of waiting on the gas stove and so built us a campfire. It was kebabs all round and so, feeling a bit smug, we got out the guitar and started up singing Kumbyeya........only kidding!

zzzzzz....

One of our team, Laura having a wee snooze at the top of a massive climb. Bracing doesn't even begin to describe the weather but here at Kush we are nothing if not determind! The route was part of the Great Glen Way in Western Scotland and I reckon was designed for walkers rather than bikes, however its a great challenge and the kush team would heartily recommend it.

Ali's epic journey

So one of our mates Ali decided to go a wee tour on his bike. He set off from his Edinburgh home and ended up in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal and only the sheep for company. Fortunately he used his time wisely by texting us this picture to prove his mighty endurance.... although Ali's not in the picture so maybe he's fooled us all!

Coast to Coast 2009

Some of our team decanted for a few days to cycle from the East to the West coast of Scotland along the Great Glen Way. Amazing scenery was viewed as they cycled along the hills beside Loch Ness but unfortunately there were no sightings of Nessie! On day 3 they then took to the towpath along the Caladonian canal and finally into Fort William where, after 80 miles of rough tracks, they got their first puncture on the High street! Russell's riding was so hardcore he shattered the weld on his panniers but luckily a spare inner tube came in handy to fix it. They came back jubilant after their adventure but with sore bums, legs, hands, arms..... still, I reckon the midgies will miss them! Check out their tour t-shirt design above.

Bunny-tastic!

Well Laura's been hard at work in front of the computer for weeks now making some new designs, so we thought it was about time to let her out and about to have some fun. Being the adventurous type who always loves a challenge and learning a new skill she decided it was time to learn to bunny-hop her mountain bike. After much practicing, a lot of failed attempts and eventually resorting to SPD shoes and pedals at 6:02 pm on Sunday evening both wheels went airborne! She celebrated by doing it again, and again, and again before nearly falling over as she forgot to unclip when halting.  Laura is currently in Lomond and the Trossachs National park refining her newly acquired technique on some of Britain's best mountain biking tracks. She'll be back in the office on Thursday - which is just as well as Kush clothing is going on tour next week! Starting Friday night we will be heading out, up to Inverness. We are planning to cycle the Great Glen Way from Inverness to Fort William. We'll be taking some new designs with us and a camera so look out for some (hopefully) great shots soon!

Annual haircut

So in the fields next to Kush HQ there's some sheep, we've named 2 of them Minty and Lola. So when they went to the shearers for their annual haircut we decided to tag along too. Here's some pics of the two manly shearers from Westburn shearing- Matt and Oz. Not quite a cut and blow dry but I reckon they'll be much happier in the current heatwave (and long may it continue!)

Hoodies fresh from the press...

We did our first Kush design hoody yesterday. If you were at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh you might have seen it walking around - along with its owner the resident vet! We're working on some great new designs that will make the most of the new printing press that should arrive next week! It means that we can start printing in a much bigger range of colours. We will be making the most of that feature as much as possible.
In the meantime we've been doing lots of cycling, including a planned trip to the new downhill trails at the Lecht ski centre organised by our friends at cyclehighlands.com You can check out our full range of clothes at their shop in Ballater. We'll be posting some regular picture updates very shortly! - in the meantime here's a sneaky peek of what is a work in progress!

our photographers

Here's a piccie of our photographers Laura and Russell. They waited around very patiently in the rain while we faffed about! Have a look at some of their work at aboynephotographics.com

It rained cats and dogs got wet

So we were out shooting some pictures for the website and it starts to rain. Well we couldn't let our resident greyhound Derry get wet (she doesn't like the rain you see) so one of the team gallantly donated his jacket to keep her dry and toasty. Next time we'll remember to take her jacket too!

the start of something beautiful....

Hi folks,
First post on the new blog, just testing that it works. Hopefully exciting things will happen here at Kush HQ so we can tell you guys and share the joy. We'll keep you posted!
